S.N Guru Rau, retired Chief Engineer of Central Water Commission, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday August 30 in Bangalore. Born to Smt. Padmavathi and Sri S. Nararyanaswamy Rao, he was 89 years old. As a civil engineer, he specialized in design and safety of dams. Passionate about water conservation, he worked incessantly on the Cauvery issue until the end. He is survived by his wife Smt. Saraswathi Rau, his children Arun, Sudarshan and Nalini, his grand children Rohini, Dhanush, Rohit, Hari and Maya; his sisters Sarasa, Savitri, Seetha, Ratna and Shailaja; his nephews Sudhindra, Narendra, Anil and Tarun, nieces Sowmya, Meera, and Meghana and a large extended family.
